Swift new recruits

Back to the matter at hand, I will say not all dedicated account are something to jump on to. I just talked to a Walmart dedicated driver a few days ago in Phoenix and he said he was getting short trips and was unable to make a decent wage. However, the account I am on offers typical loads between 2,200-2,600 miles with very few short hauls. It is mainly drop and hook, DC to DC, and have no appointment times. This is a team account and it requires you to have a minimum of 4,100 miles average during the quarters. This is easily manageable.

The point is, look more into the account. Ask the recruiter for average miles and other info you might need to know prior to accepting it. Just remember, nothing is set in stone and you can always switch if you are not happy. Swift has many opportunities.

Swift Refrigerated

That's the great thing about Swift, is there are more opportunities than you can shake your finger at. My wife and I enjoyed doing OTR reefer for Prime when we were there. Things happened, and we ended up here at Swift. Our original plan was to go back to OTR reefer, then we got offered a position doing dedicated dry van across country. I have been following this thread for the reason that I'm interested in seeing real life numbers on OTR as opposed to what the terminal leader and recruiters have said.

Being able to go 70 would make me feel a little less in the way when going out west, and more miles in a day.

What Are The Best Truck Stops, And Why?

I've seen reefer drivers nose in because of their reefer noise.

I used to work at Lowe's in receiving, and we didn't care about appointment times. I did hate receiving plants because I had to scan them all and count them before signing the bills.

App?

I've actually never heard of Tapatalk until just now. Didn't even know it existed.

Yes, I built all of the software that runs this entire website. Back in the day I used things like Wordpress and VBulletin but they were bloated, lacked the features I wanted, had a trillion features I didn't want, were nearly impossible to customize, and made it impossible to integrate one registration system throughout the website.

The entire concept of an app, and things like tapatalk, were mostly invented when phones became popular and the web at the time just wouldn't work well on a phone. I was able to build a custom website that worked fantastic on all devices of all sizes, had all of the features I wanted, and loaded fast.

For instance, our blog used to run on Wordpress, which was a nightmare. It's up to like 400,000 lines of code at this point, and that's without the 25 modules you'll need to install and update continuously to make it usable. The software I wrote to manage the blog has every feature I used with Wordpress and is probably 1,000 lines of code. I can also customize it instantly to do anything I want it to do.

So as always, if you want something done right, do it yourself.

By the way, I have a complete website redesign in the works. It's going to be a while before it gets implemented, but it's a pretty radical upgrade. Everything will function exactly as it does now, it's just going to look a lot better.

Ok, first of all that's amazing! I could only imagine the time it took you to build this site.

Second, WordPress is garbage. I tried it a while back and couldn't handle it.

Third, I can't wait to see the new design!

Brett, can I ask you what platform these forums are running on?

Tapatalk is where most of my forums are located, but I'm not sure what would have to be done to integrate that.

I hit a deer this morning

I've always heard to not try to about the deer anyway, because chances are they will get scared and move where you moved to anyway.
