Decent company sponsored training?

Eli, here are the three choices you came up with and my take on each:

Im currently sitting on 3 options that I can think of which is either

Going home and paying CRST back the $850 for lodging, food, and transportation and look for a slightly decent better company than CRST.
If you switch companies now, you may have to start at Square One again, including signing a contract for your CDL training. I feel that's a waste of money. "Slightly better"?? All truck companies willing to hire new or "Recent Grads" are great companies. They also know what they are getting with a noob - no experience and they will train you. So your choices in that respect are open. Two caveats: #1: anyone you apply to will learn that you bailed on CRST and they may not be interested in someone who jumps at the slightest issue. #2 Double check your CRST contract. Look for a non- compete clause. This will keep any company from hiring you until you fully pay off anything you owe to CRST.

Getting my CDL through a 3rd party test exam (I just recently found a tech school that provides trucks for the exam).
Any school will provide trucks for their students. For you to just rent one from a school, including a licensed instructor to ride with you to the DMV is far out of reality. I know of one person who had completed school but didn't pass the test. She was able to rent a truck + trailer and someone from the truck office rode along. (She did pass). Good luck with this one!

Or sticking it out with CRST.
DING DING DING! A winner! You did your research, and with your buddy decided to team with CRST. Despite your friend bailing, your chances are better to move to another company a year after you start with CRST and have paid your tuition

Lastly, don't worry about the follicle test. Why? because if you can take any drug test worry free, no worries. If you are worried about your recent past just know that the hair test only looks at the last 90 days - nothing longer. So your four months clear should cover that.

I appreciate the advice, and I plan to stay so i can start and finish my contract as it would be a waste of money to go home and get it on my own. Its been two weeks and ive gotten everything down so fast that now im scheduled to test on Monday. I figured 10 months is nothing to really do but am gonna do a year to see what it'll open up for me

Not sure why there are difficulties answering a simple question. My friend who drove with CRST got in with millis and my initial plan was to drive with him so of course i knew it was team driving.. All im seeing is clowns trying to get a laugh when im looking for a solution but at this point im better off finding the answer for myself.

Have a blessed day

Hello

So you went to the school, signed in, got your permit and then had a change of heart about team driving? Are you still at school going through training? Did you sign your contract yet, and did they give you that dollar figure of 850 or is that what you calculated you owed? Did you pass the UA test? Why did you feel the need to let us know that you haven't been smoking weed for 4 months?

Just some questions that stand out, that I am sure the Mentor's and Moderators will probably have.

I passed the UA and have my permit, the $850 was from the first contract that i signed, it was for the lodging, transportation and food they provided that is it. The need for saying that I wasnt smoking is because there are certain companies that does Hair follicle testing and i would rather apply to those companies after I am 1 year into the business.

Decent company sponsored training?

Hello everyone, let me start off and say that I've been on the forum for quite some time reading. I made a choice going onboard with CRST which I've figured i no longer wanted to do. I got my class A permit from them but at this time I dont want to finish the school, most importantly because I dont want to do team driving and sign a contract that might be really ****. Im currently sitting on 3 options that I can think of which is either Going home and paying CRST back the $850 for lodging, food, and transportation and look for a slightly decent better company than CRST. And in terms of pay i know that CRST pays enough to pay my bills (I hope) im not really complaining about that..

And as a little back story, I Have stopped smoking weed for the past 4 months and continue to stop for at least 2 years while i am out trucking.. Just wanting to be honest about what my options would be
