Work boots or no work boots during otr training??

My father-in-law has been driving for USPS for quite a while and he insisted on getting me a pair of work boots. I suppose it couldn't hurt to get some non-slip/water/oil resistant shoes with a hard toe, but I don't really have experience either, lol.

Here is a thread from a few years ago where it seemed like it would be nice, but maybe not absolutely necessary. Depends on your circumstances.

Hey look at you, man! Well done, pay it forward, and everything else. Getting outside of your comfort zone is definitely one of the many ingredients of personal growth!

Hair Follicle Testing Question

Here is a link to a page here on Trucking Truth on a breakdown of which companies do follicle testing. It seems to be quite a majority of them that do it.

The thing about THC and its metabolites, there are too many factors to determine how long it will be traceable for in your body. Hair is said to be 90 days, but could depend on the rate of hair growth, thickness of hair, etc. A common turn around time for urine testing is 30 days, however that really varies as well depending on metabolism, BMI, and honestly no one really knows what, lol. There are a lot of calculators online to give you an estimate. I had a friend who took about 50 days before he could pass a urine test. He wasn't too big of a guy, just smoked a couple times a week.

Honestly it really varies, but 3 months+ if you are looking at a company that does a hair follicle test.

Game: Funniest negative review about your company

In regard to reviews in general, I feel that most of the time people won't leave a review unless they've had a negative experience. That, combined with some people's love for embelishing stories make for some spicy reading, lol.

This reminds me of product review on Amazon and Best Buy. Many 1 star reviews are for things that could have been easily fixed. "1 star, item came defective out of the box!" Um, did you ever think about exchanging it? Lol. And I understand that sometimes, fixing things can appear to be a hassle. But the street goes both ways, not just me me me! lol

Trip Planning Practice #1

Ooo awesome thank you Kearsey! My road atlas should be in the mail today so I will give it a go later! Also, just downloaded the Trucker Path app. Any other good app recommendations for trip planning? I see people recommending Google maps for basic routing info (not to be followed to the T, lol) as well as getting an idea of final mile type stuff.

AMAZON

Over the past couple of weeks, I have seen Amazon branded tractors here in Phoenix. Phoenix and the area seems to be a hotbed for these kinds of things in general. Tons of warehouses have been going up lately, also UPS has their self driving tractors doing Tucson-Phoenix trips as well. Haven't seen one of those yet.

Walmart Private Fleet

Making it this far hasn't exactly been easy, so I'm hoping the worst is behind me. Paying my dues as I have has put me in the fortunate position of not having to worry too much about not making the cut. .

I feel like I say this a lot, but I will continue to say it: Thank you for sharing. Also, many times you gotta get the tough stuff out of the way first in order to have smooth(er) sailing. I wish you all the best in your new journey and am excited to read your followups and continued experience.
