For me, the biggest frustration is the silly policies and appointment nonsense at warehouses coupled by a lack of communication within the warehouse staff itself. I understand appointments are important for the OTR loads to come in and out as smoothly as possible but in the LTL world, dispatches change while we are on the road quite often based on our location and how much space we have.
Just the other day I was given a last minute assignment to go pick up 7 pallets at a shipper we only deal with through a 3rd party. My dispatch calls to tell me he talked to them, gave them my ETA, and its fine for me to just show up. I get there around 4pm as estimated, guy tells me he has no idea what I’m there for and furthermore, no loading till 6pm. I am the only truck there and there are 3 forklift guys sitting still, doing nothing. I can see my 7 pallets staged by a door 2 bays down. I ended up being there for almost an hour and a half while phone calls and emails were sent back and forth between dispatch and their management ironing out this pickup

My ABF terminal is still busy, plenty of freight coming in/out. I’m closing in on my 1 year mark and haven’t had a week without OT yet.

Pulling some Budweiser with NFI
We carry permits in our truck document binder as well. We move liquor pretty often to a distribution center in Delaware and pick up from local craft breweries all the time. Mostly Victory and Dogfish Head, some other smaller ones too

Spring is right around the corner!!! What did you do before your CDL?? See if you can find an under the table gig landscaping, roofing, construction, ETC… and double bubble your income till you go back to Fedex.
I know landscaping is about to get real busy. Just about every company, big or small, can use an extra body in the spring. Even some nurseries need extra drivers in the spring to deliver mulch, soil and plants to jobs. Pretty much all the guys I know who own landscaping businesses bring in extra help for cash. In PA as a labor trade business owner, your allowed to claim off the street help up to $5500 a year. Might be more now

Big changes coming to Trucking Truth tomorrow!
I worry by separating LTL/local it would make the information harder for those considering a career to find it. Maybe just creating a tag would work.
I agree, a tag somewhere with the topic would make more sense. All topics would still be in the general forum but the tag on the main topic screen could separate the topic content.
Maybe a topic option to select when starting a new thread like general, OTR, Local/LTL could narrow it down a bit but still have everything in one place

Since your asking for suggestions and feedback, I have an idea.
Maybe a forum for LTL/local drivers to have discussions and help each other and people making the move to a local gig. We encounter many different things in our work day that OTR peeps rarely deal with. Fuel and food delivery tips and help, dock work, loading/unloading trailers, liftgate service doubles/triples. Just a thought.

Litter drives me nuts. As a former landscaper, I cant even estimate how much time myself and coworkers/employees have wasted picking up after other people so we could do our job. I’ve seen people drop trash on the ground within feet of a trashcan. Can’t understand the train of thought or lack there of to think its ok to litter

Really like the larger font/text size and layout. As someone who needs readers, makes it much easier and comfortable to read.
