$235,000 a year Trucking???

A long winded response is really not neccessary...In a nutshell:

This is a scam. There are no good lease purchases. On the surface it seems like an inexpensive way to become your own boss but truth is unless you can afford to buy your truck outright and not from the carrier you will be workimg for this will never work.

I have been an Owner Operator since 1983 and it works for me. But today the market is brutal, the rates are depressed and unless you know what you are doing it will leave you broke and devestated.

If you are insistent drive for a company and learn the ropes before you take the plunge. I know of no one that makes $235,000 a year on a lease purchase deal or any other deal unless they are a hard driving team.

Dont take the bait...this kind of deal simply does not exist. Maybe this reply was long winded afterall.

Can a company driver be forced to pay for fuel?

Traci, tell your fiancee he may not have a job soon anyway if you stay with this company. Danger...Danger..red flags are everywhere. Get out while you are ahead.

Be advised the elevation around the Eisenhower tunnel on I 70 is 11,000 feet and the weather can get ugly with no warning. Got chains?

I would go the I 40 route. Just keep an ear to the ground and watch for stormy weather. Before you go too far out of route speak with dispatch. They could back charge you for out of route miles.

Can a company driver be forced to pay for fuel?

Two trucks and two trailers both company operated, eh?

Asking the driver on a company truck to pay for fuel out of their personal credit card or bank account tells me this company is not financially stable enough to secure a fuel account through one of several money transfer systems. You mean they cant even wire you funds through Western Union? It is not your responsibility to fuel their truck out of your own pocket and run the risk of being bilked out of your money. Something is bad wrong here.

There are too many companies that have legitimate money transfer services to have to do this. Unless your driving record and employment history is so bad no one else will hire you dont walk RUN to another reputable company. This system just gives me the willies.

Lapse of DOT Medical Card

That's what I was thinking. Just go get your physical then submit it to the DMV and get reinstated. Letting it lapse is not a life sentence.

Also deeply sorry for your loss I have walked in your moccasins so I do know and understand what you are going through. God bless.

First Accident Ever, Made Stupid Mistakes

One thing that safety will (or should) ask you is "what would you have done differently?" How you answer that question can determine the outcome of their decision to handle your case. It's an easy answer. Just what would you do different?

Interstate 15

US 95 south from Vegas to NV 164 IN Searchlight. Turn right and that will take you to I15 past the scale. However the scale is visible from the on ramp and an eagle eyed cop can see you. Sometimes a CHP will sit at the on ramp as well to check you out. Taking 95 to I40 at Needles will avoid the scale but it will take you seriously out of route. Is it worth it?
