My first week solo

Congrats to you. Your mpg will get better as you figure out your truck more. i.e. it's shift points and where it wants to be run at.

Prime, Inc. / Do I have a choice?

Chris i will tell you how it went with me getting on with prime. I filled out the online application. Had a recruiter call me within 45 min.

Just be completely honest with the recruiter. Because once you get there they are going to charge you $100 for a background check. So make sure you told the recruiter everything. If they find anything different your out $100 bucks and on your way home.

I would happily recommend my recruiter to you. She was great and answered all my phone calls and emails very promptly. As in a matter of an hour or two at the most.

Follow the advice of Brett, old school and Daniel b. And you won't go wrong. If you want my recruiter's info just shoot me a private message and I will try my best to get back with you with what you need. Best of luck to you.

Jerks at truck stops

Back when I was still learning with my trainer I was trying to get into a spot with about 6 inches of snow on the ground. My trainer got out to help guide me in. Then all the chuckleheads started on the c.b.

Much to my surprise a female got on there and read them the riot act. And asked them since I had a spotter if they thought I may be a student. That shut them up quick.

If I see someone struggling to get backed into a spot. I will ask them if they need help with getting in the spot.

And remember we all have days when we can put a trailer in anywhere and days we can't back in an open parking lot.

Serious Question

I don't usually hit my head. I tend to hit my shoulders on the frame rail of the trailer.

Forced to lease a truck and become an OO after 6 months at Prime?

Prime doesn't push the lease at all. As far as being out otr. I generally stay out for 7 weeks at a time. In fact I head back out tomorrow morning.

I probably won't come home again til mid January. All I have at home is the wife. Kids are grown and gone.

Average wait

A lot depends on what kind or trailer your pulling. The shipper, what the load is and where it is going.

I pull a reefer. I have had drop and hooks that I was in and out in 45 min. Have also had loads I have had to wait up to 36 hours for. Generally though I am usually in the 2-4 hours for a load.

What Would You Do? Part 3

Daniel I would just go to the 01 like you. If they don't let me in then I would log into off duty driving. Go get the wash out and get back there. Then hope I don't get caught by logs dept. Plus I am saving my 70.

Hey Everyone. I Finally Got an Offer.

Congrats on the new job. Sorry about your brother. I was in Oregon when I got the call my mother passed away Monday morning. It has made for a hard week of driving.
