Will Do. I've been lurking around, but haven't run across any efficiency type stuff yet, or how much you do on the road vs. what the shop does. I'll check out that link tonight.

Everyone is going to die. Truckers will be last though. Somebody has to haul the bodies to the mass graves

Becoming a favored driver

When I saw a 3% margin quoted, that lit a fire in my brain. I'm curious about running efficiently. I own a biz now and cost cutting is way up there on the list of priorities. What $$ saving things do they require or you can do on your own? What works and what doesn't? Do you do your own maintenance things like changing drive belts, oil, etc? I'm kinda handy that way and wouldn't mind, if they let me.

Corona, H1N1, swine, Cyrus, Y2K. We survived them all.

Coronavirus

It is more serious than the flu, because of the long incubation period it has, which makes it more likely to spread. But, I was more coming from the angle of large areas of the U.S. being quarantined. Folks would learn real quick just how important our transportation industry is. I've been prepping my store a bit and ordering extra meds for my asthma patients, asked my wife to buy maybe a week extra of food, but that's about all I can do. My warehouse is all out of those masks (not that they'll do any good). I just wish I could go ahead and catch this thing and get it over with, so I can help others. Take care, y'all.

As a Truck Driver, do you have any control over the type of truck you have to drive and the cargo you haul?

Hello Everyone,

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts and wisdom on my newbie questions. The information that you have shared has been most helpful. I think this forum is really great, it is like being in a room full of close friends that have AWESOME answers!

I second that. Y'all are much appreciated.

What did you do before becoming a truck driver?

Own a store in Philly. I'll do it a few more years, but I'm looking to be a truck driver when I grow up. I just love going places, I guess. Don't care for fancy places. A crossroads in the middle of nowhere is just as interesting to me as Central Park, NYC.
