The choices presented to me

I am ready to commit. I have read the reviews ans have a good idea who I would like to accept me into there program. I just want to get some other opinions first. I filled out the app here on TT and the following companies have shown interest in me and are asking me to continue. I was just wondering if anyone has any constructive advice about what direction I should follow. Wilson Logistics, which I assume is the same as WilTrans, CRST Expedited, and Driver Solutions (PAM Trucking) and finally Roehl. In my opinion I believe Wilson or Roehl would be best BUT I have a concern about Roehl. I have read that they do a hair follicle test. I am exposed at times to Marijuana smoke and scent from a family member that has a legal prescription for PTSD. I am concerned that I may have issues with this and fear it will jeopardize my career before it even starts. This leaves me believing that Wilson Logistics may be my best choice. Any help and input is appreciated. Thank You Darren

Starting with Wilson Logistics

How does the CDL road test go? Is it through a local DMV office or is it given directly by the company?

Companies with GYCDL that train as Solo not Team

Hello again all. I am interested to know from others experience what companies that will help me get my CDL will train me as a solo driver once the classroom portion is over? I just have this idea in my mind that Solo training will benefit me more than a team environment ass I am not interested in team environment work. Thanks everyone have a great day.. Darren

My Roehl training adventure

Thank you. The reason I’m asking about hair is because I am frequently around someone that has a legal Marijuana prescription. I have smelled it and breathed in the smoke from it. I have now passed 2 urinalysis tests over the past month for interviews and a random at my previous work. I’m concerned about hair because I read it’s very sensitive as to what it takes to show up. Just smelling or breathing air by a nearby smoker I am told may give a positive result even though I don’t smoke myself. There are so many things people say about hair tests that make it confusing to understand. So naturally if failing this test is career suicide I am nervous about it and testing positive for something I don’t do.

Roehl will do a urinalysis and hair test as part of the DOT physical done within 30 days of your start date. If for some reason you take longer than 30 days to start class they will do another pee test. And yes you are subject to random at any time after that. Several from my class have had ransoms already. I don’t know anything about false positives. But these tests have been around a long time. If they were giving false negatives I’m guessing there’d be some serious investigative reporting on it and not just internet conspiracy theories. As PackRat said though if there’s any reason to think you won’t clear, wait 6 months

My Roehl training adventure

I’m not worried about passing since I don’t use. I’m just curious if there methods because I have read about a lot of false positives on hair testing.

When in training what is there drug testing policy Urine and hair? I have read a lot about hair testing and its inaccuracies.

The testing is usually on day one or day two. After that, you can be selected for a random test 24/7.

If there is any doubt at all on if you will test positive, you'd best wait at least six months to be safe.

If you test positive, it's The Kiss Of Death in trucking, and you will be done before you even start.

Trying to get my career started in trucking.

I am not sure why I was denied by TMC. When I called on the phone the lady that was checking my application status was extremely unfriendly, almost to the point of rude and basically hung up on me after she told me they were going with other candidates. My reason for looking at TMC first was there advertised home time, pay, newer trucks and training procedures. I watched a bunch of videos and reviews and it all seemed like a good system. Really all I need is to be home a few days every 2 weeks. My wife is completely on board with this choice and I want to make decent money. All I can find for normal wor in my area pays about 25K a year. Im thinking I can make more than that even as a rookie driver. My other need is not laying out 5k to get a CDL. I want to utilize one of the companies that will help me get and pay for the CDL license so I dont have to lay out the cash or take a loan.

Trying to get my career started in trucking.

Well I applied at TMC and was not accepted. I was really praying for TMC due to the nature of there training program and no cost commitment for training, training pay and advertised at home time.I kind of expected this as I had no CDL license or permit, am currently unemployed and honestly 2020 has NOT been my year so far. I am however looking to change that all! Today (thanks to the study guide and practice questions on this site) I was able to obtain my Class A learners permit for South Carolina. This week I also was approved for my TWIC card and applied for a passport. Now I just have to figure out how to get someone to be interested in me enough to give me a shot. I really am hoping to find a company sponsored program and a company that doesn't mind getting me home every 2 weeks for the weekend. Any advice on what I should do as my next step? Looking at some of the reviews here on TT Millis Transfer looks like another good option but honestly I don't know what my next steps should be. Should I fill out the form on TT to be contacted by recruiters? Fill out individual apps for the companies that interest me? Any advice or guidance on how to proceed would be awesome. Thanks, Darren

Looking to start a new Career

Good day all and hello. I find myself at a crossroad in life @ age 48 I am currently unemployed. I promised myself my next job would be something I actually enjoy and that is rewarding to me physically and mentally. I have always thought about becoming a truck driver but never followed through on my feelings. Now I am unemployed with no children living at home and my wife is 100% on board with me following this plan through to completion. I currently have no CDL license but I have driven and backed some tractor trailers for a previous job on private property. I have no doubts that I can "do the job" but its all still somewhat intimidating. My wife thinks it best to get the licence on my own but I believe it may be better to partner with a company willing to fund this for me in return for my services and a guaranteed job. What are your thoughts on this subject each way? As for companies that offer these services I find myself leaning towards a company named TMC. They make claim of full training and even paying me a salary while training is under way. Some reviews I have read about TMC are that they are very strict with there rules and what they expect. I feel this is a plus for me because its the way I believe a job should be and have no issues with a strict follow our rules policy. Does anyone have any input on the TMC company and the survival rate for a total newbie in the trucking world? Thanks in advance for any helpful opinions on the subjects. Much Appreciated, Darren
