Swift vs Schneider for a rookie?
Heya now, I HATE getting my hands greasy/dirty dangit! I haven't failed yet though 🤪 Dawn Powerwash, and baby wipes for the win!
All joking aside, if you have the attitude of hard work, you will be fine no matter whose name is on the door.

Your "demographics" don't matter in trucking. Also, if "your demographics" have to match up, trucking is going to enrage you, because we "don't match your demographics."

I took some time off the truck and went on a cruise to Alaska. I enjoyed every minute, and it's somewhere everyone should go at least once in their life! It was a much needed vacation.
The return to driving however has served me a 💩 sandwich sideways nearly every day. All I can say is potholes can go eat a rather large bag of Richards 🤬

Frustrated driver. Long layover. No pay.
Why should you get paid to sit empty, not at a shipper?

The "technical term" for what Kearsey described is actually "controlled braking" and is exactly as she described in the NC Drivers handbook.
I have driven both 2019 freightliners and my 2021. I also drove a 2021 Pete, but I don't remember the nuanced differences between the two offhand.
The Hill decent feature is pretty handy, but it is by no means a " set it and forget it" tool.
The way my 2021 works Hill decent, is you have cruise off, get to the speed you desire (I choose 5-10 below posted depending on all factors) set the level of your Jake, then set your cruise.
You need to monitor your speed and rpms closely, and use controlled braking to slow it back down if it is not holding the speed you need. Adjust the Jake level, and cruise speed as necessary.
You can go down a hill too slow a million times, but only too fast once. Do not judge your scenario by other drivers actions either. I am a different driver 3.5 years in, than I was day one solo. You will get there.

Well, I once got 20 miles down the road, only to realize I forgot to go to my shipper 😂
Luckily it was the end of my drive day, and had planned on a delay at the slaughterhouse..... So I really didn't bone my clock, but I sure felt like Bozo

Looking for Wilson Transportation Lease Purchase OTR operators to talk to
Ok, as with ANY lease, there are so many different variables as to what you can realistically take home. Do not forget to factor in taxes, health insurance, and retirement savings.
Your tax situation can also have serious impact on your actual take home.
You also state you don't want to own a truck, because you aren't planning on being out here that long, HOWEVER that is what a Lease-Purchase is. The end result is you OWN the truck, title, headaches, and all.

Questions about Truck Maintenance as a Lease Purchase Operator
As a L/O for Prime, knowing what I do, I'm going to tell you DO NOT DO IT.
You are in a position of not even being aware of the amount of stuff in trucking that you just don't know. You don't even know if you will LIKE being in a truck.
Spend the time to learn how to drive correctly.

Mike, I really don't know how they could make it any more simple.
7/3 or 8/2. You get back 11 minus what you did between the breaks. If you are in reefer and you can't run a split, or don't understand it so don't do it, you wind up burning more clock than necessary.

What drugs can truckers do without getting caught
Honestly, I wish this question surprised me, but with the current views on drug use, it's not shocking.
If your father is an addict, getting out of a truck is the safest thing for all of us, professional drivers, and innocent motoring public.
