Hey that's awesome!!! Congrats!!!
And what do you mean "most" of the tools? Did you find something elsewhere that we didn't have? I don't like being second best to anyone.
Well Brett since you brought it up, you could have a virtual reality truck driving program, that gives the feel of being behind the wheel of a big rig
Congratulations man! That's a great feeling that I still haven't forgotten. Hey tell us about your experience over there at Longview, and I'm also curious what your plans are now. Bj, we'll be glad to help you further if there's anything you need.
Aagain, Way to go!

There's actually a video game like that: I played it before. It was pretty realistic except I tipped over my log truck haha
And congrats on your CDL!

I've actually done some work on building a simulator, but not really video-game style. It's not really to give you the view from behind the wheel or simulate real driving. It's more about helping people understand the dynamics and the various angles involved when doing slow maneuvers forward or backward. It's an overhead view of the truck while doing various maneuvers. It isn't nearly complete enough to release it even as a "sneak peak" and unfortunately I have 10,000 things on my list that have to get done before I can go back to working on it. But someday I will.
I'd also like to produce something similar for shifting to help people understand progressive gearing and learn the timing of shifting and double clutching.
Such a long to-do list.
To engage and then disengage the clutch twice for every gear change.
When double clutching you will push in the clutch, take the gearshift out of gear, release the clutch, press the clutch in again, shift the gearshift into the next gear, then release the clutch.
This is done on standard transmissions which do not have synchronizers in them, like those found in almost all Class A trucks.

I say most of the tools because the other was actually driving a semi for the last 3 weeks. Everything else that I needed to know I came here. As far as my story, I got on with Coors a month ago, had a CDL permit, so some of the guys I work with trained me on their trucks. Passed my exam and now I just need my own route and ill be set.
I've been telling everyone about this site because it is the shiznit!

First and foremost, CONGRATS.

Next. What is "shiznit"?
Keep it safe out there. Joe S
Ahhhh Joe...ya gotta say "shnitz" cuz Brett has a cuss blocker on here so ya can't say SH***TS. And if that word didn't come thru...lets just say "toilet offerings".
Thanks Starcar. I guess I will start using what my Grandmother used to say.. "Horse feathers".

Just wanted say thank you to the truckingtruth.com, Brett and everyone else who gave me feedback and advice throughout this journey. This site gave me most of the tools I needed to pass my tests. Thanks again!!
