I've seen a few companies offering that lately, I think DTV is making the rounds to all the trucking companies and trying to sell them on the idea of adding it to their trucks.
I was listening to Road Dog Trucking that Trans Am is offering Direct TV in all their trucks at no charge to the driver.
I say "Cool!," if it's true.
BTW, I think it was a Trans Am ad.

I wouldn't even consider having this as an advantage. It's just another distraction to keep you from resting. Do drivers really have time for this? I can't seem to find 15 minutes to log on TT yet watch a movie.

I would say the time this would get used mostly would be like when you're sitting at a shipper or receiver waiting for hours to get loaded/unloaded. Long delays seem to be a regular occurrence especially for the reefer guys. This would give you something to do in those situations when you can't sleep but are stuck in the truck not driving.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
