Ok, you'll probably say I worry too much again...but after reading some more about the whole process, I see that people have been sent home for taking some meds, some people got sent home for failing a sleep study, etc.

A few years ago I went for a sleep study and was told I have mild sleep apnea. I tried the cpap machine (actually it was a bipap) and I couldn't deal with the damn thing. I have an absolute hate (and to some extent, fear) of anything near my face specially if it's over my mouth/nose/breathing airways. I do have my reasons, it stems from my childhood. I tried the face mask, the nose pillows....I'd always end up ripping the thing off my face.

I know I am not my ideal weight. From a medical point of view, I am considered *glup* obese. I can't believe I just said that on a forum full of men. See the picture below, does that look obese to you? I don't even consider myself fat, and no one believes me when I say that the doctors label me as such.

So before I go ahead and suffer the humiliation of being sent home because of my weight/possible mandatory sleep study, which companies are you aware of that will put me through the ringer? Does Swift tic on that?

Sleep Apnea:

A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.

In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.

It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.

CPAP:

Constant Positive Airway Pressure

CPAP is a breathing assist device which is worn over the mouth or nose. It provides nighttime relief for individuals who suffer from Sleep Apnea.

I'll show you my stomach, you are definitely not obease. The bmi tests do not take into account muscle mass, bone density, and structure of your body. I would not worry to much just take the paper work with you, I doubt you would be sent away

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Like I said....medically speaking, they say I am. It's insulting. I don't believe I look anything near obese. :(
