I can't answer your question for sure but I can tell you about a guy I went through orientation with. He had a class A, but spent the last few years driving a class B fuel tanker. All he had to do was go through a 21 day eval with a trainer before going on his own. That's with Melton which is a flatbed company. Not sure what other companies might do.

Now that I think about it we also had a class B bus driver that did the same thing with no trouble. He had driven class A trucks over 20 years ago and decided to come back after getting tired of driving buses.

Never logged down that way but I know where your talking about. Most of my time was up around Vicksburg. Before I went over the road I was driving for Anderson Tully getting logs from south Louisiana to Arkansas.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Yes I know exactly where Vicksburg is. My grandfather was a logging contractor and he had 5 Mack Trucks,,,2 Skidders,,A Knuckle boom loader and a pulp wood truck,,but when I tell people that I grew up logging, over 90% of them don't even know what logging is!!! I was driving trucks when I was 16 and that's what I did every summer!!! So who are you driving for now?!

Just finished up training with Melton. I'll be getting my truck on Monday. Since most of my logging experience was unverifiable I had to go out with a trainer for a few weeks. Wasn't to bad really. More of an evaluation on my driving plus teaching my flatbed specific stuff.
