Was just thinking of starting a new a topic that would be lite and airy and see how some like the newer model engines compared to the the older ones?

Michael, I hope you get some responses to your inquiry, but I'm afraid 95% of the drivers in here have never known the exhiliration of commandeering a big rig with a wonderfully melodic sounding 600 horse Cat under the hood. Most of us in here are driving company owned rigs that are less than four years old, and on top of that they were castrated before we ever got a set of keys to them!

I never got to play with one either, the best engine I think in my time was the Detroit 60 series. This other company I'm trying to get on with still runs pete's(TMC) with cats and some of the newer trucks I believe have the pacaar engines in them but not sure.

Yea my uncle use to tell of the time he crossed the mexicanborderback into the USA running 100 miles an hour, could not use the Jake brake in California cause they were too Loud. Today's engine are CRAP. Being a mechanic I can tell you no one likes them.

Mechanically the motors are the same as they have always been. What has changed is the after treatment systems and that is what trucks are having issues with.
