Maybe an OO, but I doubt any company drivers could do it?
Well, if you have a pet policy....what difference does it make? As long as you don't get off your planned route and don't do any detours (the rescue comes to you to get the pet at the rest stop you're at)

lot of those pet policies require a deposit.
And in addition to a deposit you probably have to identify the pet you will bring by name, sex, spay/neuter, weight & breed. Same as with an appartment building and for the same basic reasons. Guessing.

This could also be good publicity for the company, too. But I would not just go ahead and do it, without bringing it up to my dispatcher , or fleet manager , or whoever it is that I would have to run it through.

Would like input from a real live driver that is doing this. My thinking is, for instance- what most companies require is a dog less than 60 pounds that is a non-aggressive breed, and the deposit.
Would the company ask for name, spay/neuter, sex? Hmmm Maybe if the driver was killed then they could tell the police the dogs name? Trying to be funny.. maybe not?
I thought that the trucker who did that was very compassionate and commendable. It's a wonderful way to join work with helping in a selfless way. So many pets need a good home and don't have the logistics to transport them to a family willing to adopt.
Many companies not only have breed restrictions, they want vet records/proof of immunization etc. too before that pet goes into the truck.
While this sounds like a great idea in theory, I would never consider it unless I was an O/O... not a L/O or company driver. I'm not going to lose my job over transporting animals. Besides, what happens when the designated person is a no show or late due to circumstances beyond their control?
Animals who go to an adoptive family that I've seen, always have all their shots prior to being put for adoption. You could always make yourself available to transport only small dogs and cats. And yes, I'd check with my company first. But it would be wonderful to do it.

I adopted a little minpin years ago from way out of state. I think she came from Colorado. A trucker was a volunteer to bring 4 legged friends from point A to point B, so a homeless pet could go to a new forever home. Any of you do this? All they asked for is for a little gift (monetary, baked goods, home made meal or something). I thought it was awesome, and for a good cause.
