Looking back on 44 years of life I can say I've been truly blessed every moment of the way. I've always been healthy, I was gifted in many ways, and I had the greatest parents on Earth. A truly blessed life.
And of all the wonderful things I've had in my life I can honestly say the greatest, purest joy I can ever remember is seeing that gigantic pile of gifts under the Christmas tree with those lights shining as bright as the Heavens. We used to get up about 3:00 a.m. to open gifts. Santa usually came around 1:00 - 2:00 a.m.
We'd run toward the family room and long before you got there you could see the glow from the tree lights and you knew Santa had come!!!! We'd round the corner into the family room and the sight of that tree lit up with all those presents nearly made us pass out with joy! It was just unimaginable.
Christmas for us was about all the things it should be about - bringing together family, eating way too much wonderful food, and bringing unparalleled joy to little kids. It's a shame Christmas doesn't bring that kind of joy to everyone. You can do the 'glass half empty' thing with anything in life if you want to. I just don't know why you'd want to.
Same here. Only day of the year Mom didn't need to roust me out of bed. The best! And my favorite gifts were...toy trucks. Tonka, the steel ones. Great memories.
