I had 2, 45 minute sessions to learn how to shift/float gears and road driving
An expression used to describe someone who is shifting gears without using the clutch at all. Drivers are taught to "Double Clutch" or press and release the clutch twice for each gear shift. If you're floating gears it means you're simply shifting without using the clutch at all.
Like others I can't say if it's enough for you or not, but my school it's 1 trainer 1 student per truck. in the yard sometimes they will have 1 trainer, 2 students 2 trucks but that because it's in a controlled area where 1 trainer can watch both trucks / students, on the road it's always 1 trainer 1 student per truck. we get 11 drives 4 hours each although they hold back 1 in case you fail the test and need to practice more or say like me go to a company with all or almost all autos and then a year down the road want to go somewhere else that has manuals but forget... well I still have that 1 drive so I can come back and use it... it's mine for life.
I personally don't think 6 hours of real road experience is enough... it might be enough in the yard but not real roads. maybe your instructor feels you are doing better than the other guy and that's why he has had him drive more. you might both be doing bad but he could be doing worse.
the multiple students per truck thing though is one of the things my school bashes roadmasters on... the local one has a lot of driving test fails and that's the kind of thing that'll cause it... you don't get enough time behind the wheel and even when you do you got another guy in the truck and even if he's quiet you know he's there and it's a distraction. they also cost more than my school :P
Remember there just training you to pass the dmv test that's all.

Bingo. Your time out with your actual trainer will be more of a preparation to making you a professional driver. Even after that training, you'll still have a long way to go as the training is basically exposure to driving in various scenarios and teaching you the company policies, how to use the various electronic equipment and educating you in trip planning.

Huh class is over testing tuesday all my instructor did was yell at me when I was driving I have no convidance worst experience of my life
You paid for this school? If you don't feel confident tell a manager super is or or owner. You are a paying customer and ate entitled to proper trainIng. Ask of someone will evaluate you before the test to see if you are ready. Don't teSt if you aren't confident. There is a difference between nerves and not knowing.
I tested and wasn't ready for the backing. They tried to tell me I was just nervous. Three men surrounded me in the office trying to convince me I was fine. they the had someone evaluate me and he said I drive great but can't back... like I didn't know that. After a couple.more hours with him and bettwr reference points tHan I was given before.. I passed. Stand your ground... especially if you paid.. or if you signed a contract that you would pay. When I mentioned my Co tract made me a paying customer I got my backing help.
