What are these used for? & is it a good idea to get one?
There several posts on CB radios. Just put "CB radio" in the search box.
CBs are radios many people use to talk to each other. The distance is limited to 5-10 miles by the radio's power output.
Many drivers feel they are so useful they won't go without one. You get traffic & road conditions, find out if a truck stop has any empty parking spots, and you can just chew the rag (chat). Some places, from truck stops to shippers, actually use then to communicate with drivers.
The flip side is anyone gets on there, I'll just say be ready to hear bad language. Also, as a new driver you will get an earful if your radio's on as you back into a spot at a truck stop.
You supply a radio, most companies won't. But trucks actually have a space to install them and most come with antennas already.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
