I would like to know, if a company that says 12 months experience would hire you,, if you have 10 months. I mean would that other 2 months be That Big of a deal??? I see a job I really want to apply for but I don't wanna get turned down due to experience.

Hey D-Wash, don't even give it a second thought. If you are interested in that job then apply for it. If they are needing drivers then you will certainly be considered. Now, don't quit the job you have currently until you know for sure you've landed the next one. That statement of one year experience isn't usually set hard in stone. It simply means they want to hire an experienced driver and not have to babysit or train them like you would a brand new rookie.

I don't wanna get turned down due to experience.

I wouldn't worry about that at all - I mean, if they turn you down what harm is there in that? Just carry on with what you are doing now, and there will be plenty of opportunities open for you after that first year. But seriously, I would go ahead and apply if you are interested.

Your driving status says "experienced" - Are you working now, or is there a gap in your employment? Is that ten months you are referring to just your most recent experience?

You might as well just apply... The worst they can say is no, and you won't know until you try.

Hey Thanks Alot Old School!!!!! Yes sir I'm working now,,I have 2 months OTR with Averitt Express but now I'm pulling a fuel tanker here in Atlanta which I've been doing for the last 8 months. I put experienced on my Bio because I used to drive a logg truck back in Mississippi but there are some years gap in between then and now. I just want to be honest and upfront with the company I want to apply for because I think it could be a retirement place for me. I'm going to take your advice and apply for that job and pray for the best. Thanks Again Old School!!!!!!!!!!!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
