Anyone have experience with one of these? I didn't even know what it was before last Friday. Chest pain was enough to call the 911. I live a stress free life and didn't even have any triggers for it to happen. All tests show a healthy me in all areas. I don't want to give up before starting but has anyone had one of these and still gone on to do trucking?

No but I know folks who have. Sounds like you had a panic attack, can sometimes mimic heart attack-like symptoms. If you have a family doctor, you might want to talk to them about it. You do not want the thought of having one of these cross your mind when you are operating a CMV.

CMV:

Commercial Motor Vehicle

A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:

  • Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
  • Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
  • Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
  • Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
  • Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards

I had one a few years ago and it was the only one I ever had. Completely baffling and I have no idea what triggered it. But all of a sudden I started feeling lightheaded, my heart starting beating fast, and I started sweating. It kind of felt like a massive adrenaline rush but with this crippling anxiety.

Believe it or not I happened to be hanging out with someone who had that happen one time so he knew what it was. He said, "Just sit there and relax. It will be gone in 20 minutes"......and it was. Never happened again. Totally inexplicable.

Oh, and that guy had also called the paramedics when it happened to him. I might have done the same if he hadn't been there. It was terrifying and baffling.

So don't sweat it. If it happens again, which it may or may not, you'll know what it is. Just relax and wait it out.

I just had a friend who was having stomach pains and her dad took her to the hospital. Suddenly she lost feeling in the left side of her face and her hands starting cramping up and closing like a claw. Her and her father thought she was having a stroke. Nope. Just an anxiety attack that went away in like 20 minutes.

Thanks for responses. I can't imagine being stuck in traffic and this happening while I wait for it to subside. Ill just continue as normal and hope it doesn't happen more. Since I went to the ER for it, I guess I have to inform the company at orientation that it has happened and let them decide.

Good friend of mine had a severe anxiety attack. So severe in fact I called 911 & he was rushed to the hospital.

Doctor said it was brought on by acid reflux. Who would have thought?

That's good info. I'll have to inform the doc about that possibility. I am stress-free but I do have the acid thing sometimes.
