I hope this will help anyone deciding to get on with Schneider before they start school. Just a quick recap, I posted last week because I was told by a Schneider recruiter that they could not move on with my application until I have started school and I asked if anyone knew this was the norm. It turns out that what I was told by the recruiter was wrong. I got a call a couple days later from a different recruiter apologizing to me and told me they will move on with my application.
Apparently they record the phone calls, and it is like anywhere else, it all depends on who you get or talk to when it comes to getting the correct info. It does state on their website that they can pre-hire before anyone starts school if they choose to do so, apparently I missed that. Anyways I had an interview this morning and I got pre-hired and I start orientation three days after I graduate school. Now I just have to make sure I bust my butt to pass school when I start on the 25th. I hope this will help someone.
Pre-hire:
What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
OOS:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
