Well I finish my first run solo yesterday, it was as advertised, I am out of DeLand Fl got my truck assignment it is a 2014 International, I have read all kinds of nasty about this particular truck model but I am determined to prove to my company that I'm not going to start complaining if I didn't get what I wanted which was a Freightliner, anywho drove to Jacksonville to AB to pick up a beer run headed for Himtsville AL, let me tell you, the docks space were not built with semi's in mind, got her in there with one pulled up, they let me spend the night in there( no overnight parking) got live unloaded around 0800, but I got there the night before around 2250, so this morning I get my new load, from Koch foods arrived at 1300 but they tell me that my load is late and it will be ready at 2200, no overnight parking either but the manager tells me to park it out of the way of everybody and hang out( love how this is working out)

Now I'm on my 10 hrs brake and will be ready to drive to Chicago where my delivery is at, I love driving at night the only concern I get is hitting a deer, minor truck problems with dash lights like engine check other than that she is driving very well, notice that the J-brake is very week n won't engage till past 1500 rpm's the shifting is a bit different from the Freightliner I was driving with my trainer, but she has lots of space and the A/C works great, so on to my next delivery, hope I can catch a shower soon tho, that is the only issue I'm having, I have been baby wiping my body for the last two days....out

Congratulations Last Shadow!

Shaffer is an awesome company, you landed well!

HaHa! You're a truck driver now - that's what a 34 hour reset is for - you just go in there and stay in the shower for about three hours! That is enough time to get rid of some of that residual sludge that's hanging about down there in between your toes and a few other places!

Seriously, you are a brand new rookie, you will get accustomed to a schedule soon enough where you can enjoy regular showering, but at first it's all in full go mode, because you just haven't gotten your time management skills honed yet. Don't sweat it, you'll get there. Keep blowing and going, you'll learn the ropes and make some decent paychecks that way.

6S, of course it has to be blue Shaffer is blue, Crete is red, on the road so I haven't figured out how to upload pictures from my I-phone to post yet, with all that said, I was assigned a red international(ha-ha) the person in charge either has a good sense of humor or they want to make sure I don't mess around and than give me my blue truck, it's all the same I guess but I'm still a little butt-hurt due to me wanting to represent Shaffer, there is not that many blue trucks around, either they are facing them out or Shaffer needs more drivers....out

used to be that way, now they just give what ever color is available. Upside is you will not suffer in the intertrashinal long as they are selling them as fast as possible. Just hope you get one of the few that stay out of the shops.

Rumor has it Crete and Shaffer will have no separation in the coming years and you just pull whats near you getting the 3cpm more when you have a refer

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
