That will be an a great new perspective, I look forward to it.
Interesting. This should be a good read. Thanks Brian
Brian, excuse me if I missed this little bit of info, but are you going out with a PSD student, or is this for TNT?
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Good luck to you Brian! Safe travels.
I'm looking forward to this read - as I'm going with Prime eventually - [ Hopefully sooner than later, (I got issues - Lol ! to deal with.)]
Good morning all, First let me tell you my first student Charlie is a TNT student. I am a certified PSD trainer as well and in fact was intending on receiving a PSD student but circumstances led me in a different direction this time. Last week I showed up at Springfield around 0030 am on a Sunday for the start of class on Monday morning. Before I hit the sack I decided to get some grub at the cafeteria at the Millenium Building.
Some of you maybe aware of Prime's Priority Program they just started at the beginning of the year. Basically students that don't find a PSD trainers during training have the opportunity to train and finish their CDL school on Campus. The classes start at 1900 and end at 0700 the next day, everyday 7 days a week. If a PSD trainer doesn't take a student within 14 days they finish their instruction there and take the CDL test and upgrade to a TNT. Charlie was one of those students.
When I first met Charlie In the cafeteria that night I didn't realize he was a student. We just had a fantastic conversation and hit it off. When he said he was a student I was a little taken aback. Wished him luck and told him I hoped a PSD trainer didn't grab him to finish his training on the road because I would love to have the opportunity to train him on my truck after I finished the instructor class.
So when I started class they asked me if there was a student here I would take I wrote down Charlies name. Well someone must of liked me because no other trainer took an interest and Charlie wound up finishing his CDL at Campus the same day I finished instructor school.
It took a little pleading my case to a few people and are letting me take Charlie for his TNT.

Just a quick note to let everyone know I have been in Springfield for a week now and have been in class all week to become a Certified CDL Instructor. Just when you think you never have to do a pre trip exam, backing exam or road test think again. Just finished up and have my first student and I am looking forward to the new challenge. Today after I finish the safety meeting and laundry we will be getting his first load out. I'll try to update his progress from a different perspective as an instructor.
