Nothing major, I don't hallucinate or anything. I've Never been convicted. I don't do illegal drugs. I used to take adderall Zoloft bupropion and klonopin for anxiety attack. I quit everything 3month ago I take natural stuff and very clean diet. I've lost 15lbs. Finally I found hope and I want to start something new and get a job. I feel totally normal.

Can companies or medical examiner find out my record? Can I become a truck driver?

Jame C, welcome to the forum!

You will be required to disclose your medical history on your D.O.T. physical. We strongly recommend that you don't try to conceal anything, these trucking companies are pretty heavy handed in their abilities to uncover things. The last thing you want is to be considered dishonest - that is worse than a history of mental illness.

We've had a lot of folks come through here who have suffered from various disorders in their upper story who went on to be successful drivers. The fact that you've gotten off of the meds is a great step in the right direction. Often times it is the medications that one is currently taking that will hinder them more so than their past history.

Here is a link to some of our information on allowable drugs and drug testing procedures.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I have adult ADD pretty bad and I take adderall for it. DOT doctors signed off on it and i was able to work for May trucking, and KW international, a lot of other companies said it was okay as well. NAVAJO explicitly states that you can have ADD but you cannot take adderall for it. My step father is bipolar and takes, either Zoloft or lithium for it and has driven for 17 years for digby, mcelvey, and saia without any issues.

Prime has no problem with me taking Xoloft for my depression and anxiety, but they said I couldn't take Trazadone for sleep. I found that being off Ritalin as a driver is actually helpful. Good luck! You'll likely just need a doctor's affidavit that you are functioning well off the meds.
