Got a question for the experienced drivers....chickie said she picked up Benadryl. Is that ok to have because it causes drowsiness? I've seen some threads on here discuss cold medicines to be cautious of one's that cause drowsiness. I'm sure she wouldn't take it while driving, or not having 8 hrs to devote to sleep but would like to know if it's a no no to have in your possesion because of drowsiness aspect.

I ONLY take it when I'm going to be going to sleep because yes it cause drowsiness. I absolutely cannot take it when I drive. I use it in conjugation with the melatonin because the melatonin screws up my sinuses and the Benadryl counteracts that.

For sinus problems during the day I use regular daytime sinus meds.

And thanks a ton for the tip on parking! That helps so much!

Just an FYI, you might try Allegra, it supposedly doesn't cause drowsiness.

For running out of parking, try looking for Casinos. They usually have truck parking available. Might have to go in and throw $10 at a slot machine to make things look good.

I know I haven't updated in a couple of days but my hotspot isn't working and it's too long to do on my phone. So as soon as it's working again I will give a nice long update!

Short story: we stayed at the giant rest area in Indy last night and tonight we are at a humongous Petro in Waterloo NY. And I get to sleep in a little in the morning as I am extremely early for this delivery. I am going to call in the morning to see if they can take me early.

Does any one know if Sams Club DCs are like walmarts where you can only check in an hour early? Dispatch wasn't sure when I asked last night.

I think you are going to DC6096 in Johnstown NY? Been there numerous times. In actuality it's both a Walmart and SAMs DC. I am often sent their from my home DC with a backhaul of some sort, usually bagged lettuce or Sunny Delight. Most of the time my return load back to 7030 is a 2 stop freezer dairy delivery to the Walmart in Binghamton and then the SAMs Club right next to it. From there I deadhead south back to Pottsville. Many of the perishable grocery DCs are combined for both stores and SAMs. The only exclusive SAMs Club DC I have been to was in Taylor PA.

Long story for a short answer, yes they are the same in this case.

Deadhead:

To drive with an empty trailer. After delivering your load you will deadhead to a shipper to pick up your next load.

Yep that's where I'm going.

That stinks. I could have been 6 hours early on this load. Oh well I guess I'll hang out at this Petro for awhile longer. It'll give me time to make some phone calls I've been needing to make. And maybe the rain will pass by before I have to leave.

If you have their phone number you can always call them, worst they can say is no.

The beauty of being dedicated, I arrive, they take me. Rarely do I have to wait long.

I left a bit too early from the Petro so we are hanging out at one of these service plazas on I90. I'm really impressed with these, they are very nice! We got some Starbucks and a Danish (YUM!) and are sitting in the truck with the windows down enjoying this beautiful day.

I sent in for my next pre plan while I had some time and it's a great one! We are going about an hour east of our delivery to Glen Falls NY then jumping back on 90 to deliver on Waseca MN! Gonna cross some more states off the list! We will easily be at 2500 miles for this week too.

On the other hand... Teddy's fuel float is acting up again. It had stopped for awhile but it's dinging at me again. Luckily it's not a major problem. As long as I monitor my fuel level I can manage it. We may have to put him in the Kenworth shop when we go home just because the dinging gets annoying...

Still working on the hotspot. But I do have a short update.

We are at a paper plant in upstate NY. We dropped the empty trailer and got our paperwork for the new trailer. This drop lot is tiny and mud/gravel. The trailer has 44000 pounds in it!

And the best part?? The trailer brakes are locked up... So I'm waiting on road assist to send someone out to work on the trailer...
