Do I have to take another physical at company orientation?
Yes you do.
Here is some helpful info on blood pressure:
• Blood Pressure & DOT Physical
• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) Guidelines & Advice
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Abnormally high blood pressure.
99% of companies will do another physical at orientation.
While you BP is passing for a 2 year med card (below 140/90), you are right on the borderline of failing.
If you're a smoker/coffee drinker and you did so before going for your physical - that might be responsible for your "borderline numbers". Add to that the "nervousness" of passing an important physical.
The links Anchorman provided give some good info.
You would do well to continue checking your BP, and if you have any "underlying conditions" (overweight is a big one), getting them in check.
No shame in having to take BP meds - long term negative effects of high blood pressure on your health, are too important to ignore.
