I've said before that I love my FM. He took vacation this week and his replacements have definitely made me appreciate him even more. I need to buy him something as a thank you. Lol

One guy micromanage me sooooo much. "Why are you parked? You won't make your eta. You took 2 hours off earlier.. why?" I stated before I usually get preplanned and take 8 in sleeper at customer. Well this time.. no preplan.. no load... waited 5 hours at customer and no bathroom. I figured I would drive to TS shower do laundry eat etc. So I drive away. The. I get a message "where are you going. I had you preplanned for a load this afternoon and you just ruined it".

1.) Then why not just assigned me the load cause I had 6 hours on clock at that point.

2.) I would know that HOW???

3.) Not all dispatchers allow off duty drive if u loaded. Mine does but I did on duty cause I don't know this guy.

4.) I got logs to change to off duty drive...and when he sent me the load I couldn't make the Appt cause by that time I would have been an hour short on the 10 hr break. Smh.

Then he gives me a drop and hook... told me to run It ASAP even though Appt was 14 hours away (350 mikes run). Told me they would take me early even though assignment said they wouldnt. Told me they had ovr nite parking because another driver just did it there.

I showed up early and no one was here!!! The parking is a driveway across the street not owned by the customer which is for sale and the trucks are blocking each other in. Now I'm stuck here without hours cause of my 14. And I did call the night shift at 90 who said I could drop the trailer early... she said "drivers park across the street" she didn't say "no one will be here to sign your bills". Or the parking a toss the street is illegal and the cops will bother you.

I miss matt!!!!

Substance Abuse Professional

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

To bad your FM couldn't get you a 2500+ mile load before he left to keep you busy most of the time he's gone. Hopefully no more vacations for him for awhile.

I feel your pain. Mine was gone on vacation for a week, and then today I get a surprise message on the Qualcomm that he's left the company. Not looking forward to breaking in a new guy.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

. Breaking in????

Getting him used to how I run my truck and my personality. My newly departed FML and I had very similar personalities, so we clicked right from the start.

Always a crapshoot when dealing with night/weekend or random fm's.

I had a regular night fm back when I was solo that called me a couple times while I was sleeping to make sure I was heading out to delivery or pickup because he didn't think I would make it. Around the third time I told him something to the effect "I've never been late, if you call me again I'm going to get your home phone number and call you at home while you are sleeping to make sure you get to work on time". He stopped.

My fm was on vacation a couple weeks ago and the first fm covering kept running us on short goofy solo loads under the premise of getting me into the terminal to get my truck worked on. By the time we are 120 miles away, this other fm taking over for the next few days calls me "the head of sales over Midwest has personally requested..." I started laughing so hard he had to stop talking, told him give me a damn break, I'm sure the ceo of the company personally requested me to run this load. I ran it anyways because I'm a team player, but man don't call me like some used car salesman blowing smoke up my butt. A simple "I need you to run this load" or "sales needs you to run a load" would suffice.

I'm extremely happy with my personal fm, and I never get pre-planned. Never did when I was solo under him either. But he'll run my butt off, and always takes care of me if there's issues. He's old school so he might still book loads from time to time, I've had him get me to drive to pickups before the loads are even in the system, walk in once they are and a suprised shipping clerk is like how are you here already.

Terminal:

I'll call you at home hahhahah. You sound like me.

I called for live load call one night and rhe bills had "28 degrees if fresh -10 if frozen" they are supposed to circle it. They didnt. Prime said it was a frozen load and the trailer was set at 28 when I picked it up. BOL only said "pepperoni for frozen pizza". So does that mean the product is fresh or frozen????

I made the security people break the seal and climb in the trailer to determine what setting it needs to be on. When I tried to explain this to the dispatcher he interrupted me "WHAT .... do..... the......BILLS ...say?"

Me being th witch I am... "the ... BILLS. ..say.... BOTH" hahahahh
