If you worked at job for last 2.5 years but before that had a 1-2 month unemployment period and before that worked at a job for 8 months will there need to be verification of the unemployment period? If so what needs to be done to verify?

Were you COLLECTING UNEMPLOYMENT during this period?

What were you doing PRIOR TO the 3 year (+/-) total of employment you noted in your post (prior to the 8 month job)? Going to school, etc. (like you are 21-22-ish?).

Folks that have NOT been previously employed in the transport industry, are only required (by regs) to provide 3 years of history - but most trucking apps are looking for 10 years anyway. If you are young enough to not have 10 years of history, then you give what you have (typically).

A lot depends on WHY you lost the 8 month job (as they DO check job history/references), and what you were doing during the months of unemployment. Even if you were not collecting unemployment - "job search" may be acceptable to explain the gap. Most folks/companies know, that getting a job nowadays isn't really all that easy.

No I wasn't collecting unemployment. Before the 8 month job i had a job for 2 years and before that i 1-2 months unemployment and then before that i had 2 years employment.

I quit the 8month job cause i wanted something else even though i hadn't had a job yet. I tried getting unemployment but they wouldn't let me because they said i quit.

Document the unemployed period as "work search".

Assuming previous employers don't have anything negative (terminated for cause), you should be OK.

Legally, previous employers aren't allowed to disclose much. "Eligible For Rehire", is the common nomenclature to indicate you left on good terms and could go back if you wanted to.

Saying "screw you", and walking off a job (for example), would likely not be a good reference (as an example - not saying you actually did this).

Major gaps in employment, and hopping from job to job in a short period of time - are not good "stability indicators".

Again - the main reason this is a reg - is more aimed at previous transportation employers where you may have had a bad safety record, failed drug tests, etc.
