I promise you 1 night to study it is almost impossible unless your laws are the same or very close to them.

That's why you show up prepared by going through our High Road Training Program. Take that and you'll fly through the CDL permit exam and endorsement exams with flying colors.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

side note @ Brett - I've noticed the same thing too. Extra carriage returns are automatically stripped upon submission of a forum post

double-quotes-end.png

When you hit "enter" (carriage return) once it gets ignored. When you hit it twice to start a new paragraph (leaving an empty line in between) it converts it to paragraph tags. If you hit "return" more than twice before typing again (leaving more than one empty line) it ignores the extra empty lines and converts it to paragraph tags.

So if you want to make a list of things on separate lines, leave an empty line between each item like:

pancakes

eggs

candy

I think the issue may be if they are typing up the post in word, notepad, or some other program so they can save and edit and then copy and pasting to the forum. I've had this issue on other forums and just had to go in and edit to get the line breaks I wanted.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

I think you've been misinformed about the starting pay sir. Sounds like you'll be team driving.

Team driver starting pay is .34cpm and that's split. There's an idle bonus but its usually at 100$ MAX. Mostly around 85$. I've never gotten a fuel bonus and my truck gets great mpg I don't really know what's up with that. There's also detention pay and a quarterly safety bonus. Which is a few hundred if you do the safety videos and safety meeting and stay accident free.

Yes its a team and the pay is correct but as a team it works out because of the extra time we can run. I have a better feel about this their have been no lies and lots of help to get going. This is a better deal they provide you your trainer up front and as soon as you get to Utah you leave with them and train. I think this program is a better choice over all no hoops that can be hidden and they send you a list up front of every thing travel, trainer, needs, and training to be expected.

will keep it all informed as soon as I get going.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

I've been with Central for almost a year now. I'm not disputing the fact that its a good company, I'd know that. It could be a better deal for you it really all depends on your needs as a student driver. I've went through what you're about to go through and can tell you all about it.

But what I am saying is that you're wrong about your starting pay. As starting team driver your pay will be .34cpm and that's paid for all miles and the pay is split in half at the end. So if your truck makes 1500 then both of you get 750. The starting pay is not .44cpm unless you have a lot of experience that I'm not aware of.

Here's a link to the starting pay scale for team drivers. This is on Centrals website.

Team drivers do not make 44 cents per mile. They start out at, so I was told, 36 cents per mile. It is split between the drivers.

Celadon has no fuel or idle bonus. All their trucks have APUs , therefore you don't idle.

When I asked about a fuel bonus, I was laughed at. They looked at me like I was crazy.

Keep it safe out there. Joe S

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
