Past the Technical school test yesterday. Was asked to take the State Exam today. And you can read in the heading I passed. Went to the DDS and got the license right after. What a blessing this whole experience has been. 50 years old and changing career paths again. Back where I started almost 30 years ago. I also was the last CDL exam to be given by a state examiner who had worked for the school for the last 10 years. I was number 9,035. This man at the age of 62 has changed the lives of 9,035 people. Wow!

Austin, my little buddy at school took two parts of his school test and passed. He will do his road test on Tuesday the 1st of October. He asked that I be there to help him pre-trip. I had already said I would be there through the week for support and help. I believe our entire class will pass. I look forward to this last week and half helping them all get through. It was heartwarming to say the least that they were all happy that I would becoming back and would be there to help them. And they thought the first day when I walked in the door that I was this mean, bald headed, biker gang guy that ate bears for breakfast. rofl-3.gif

Austin had commented when it began to rain before he did his state test that his friend who had passed must be with him. There apparently is a special country song the boy liked that was about God bringing angels in the rain. You ever seen a big bald headed, mean looking, biker gang guy who eats bears for breakfast cry? confused.gif

I was a sight. And he's not even my son.

Oh! and Daniel....if you are checking this out..you won't believe this. On my state test I scored 81 on pretrip..95 on skills and 93 on my road test. But....TODAY I did a PERFECT score on all three on the State exam. I was sweatin it too. I knew if I had done 100% like you I could ride along side you on the highways. I asked the old guy to check again. He said NO FOOLIN you just made my last day a great memory. We talked and laughed through the whole test. It was like two old truckers just rachet jawin about the past. He wished me luck and said, "welcome back to the real world"

So, I'll keep you all up dated on the rest of the class and what comes next. Will do some last time praying over the instructors position offer at the school. Papa will let me know.

That's awesome news Tracey! Congrats!!!

I love hearing the approach you take toward the people in your class - really getting to know them and helping them out. Our society is entirely too selfish and inconsiderate these days and truckers themselves have carried a terrible reputation for decades. I love knowing there are still people out there who understand that a little encouragement, kindness, and compassion goes a long way in people's lives.

It's really a joy having you here at TruckingTruth and I'm sure hoping you'll find the time to continue to come by and help out. The message we try to send about attitude, work ethic, and professionalism being so critically important is a tough sell. There's always a huge chorus of negativity, blame, and misinformation coming from other trucking forums like TheTruckersReport so we need all of the voices we can get to help people understand what it really takes to be happy and successful out there.

Congrats again on getting that CDL back!

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Thank you Brett,

And Daniel and Steve. I was really surprised when they told me the score. But as I told him, "Papa was with me today."

Brett It will pretty hard for you guys to get rid of me. I know after a while you might actually rethink that statement. embarrassed.gif

I love to play around. My sense of humor can be strange at times, but I promise you that what you get from me is real. That's why when I say I believe in what you and the rest of the team is doing here you can take that to the bank. We need more of a positive connection in our communications with each other in this world. That's why I LOVE this website.

Plus, driving a truck is not a job it is a profession and it takes a professional to do it RIGHT!

Thanks again guys.
