I have been to Weed many times. There is a TS there at the base of Mt. Shasta, I hunkered down there one night, got up the next morning looking at all that scenery and taking in the fresh air, I didn't want to leave. Cool.

Picture I took of Mt Shasta from the pilot t/s in Weed almost two years ago. I always like stopping there, the Mexican food next door is decent (even if it's run by Asian people!).

I hope that ban also applies to RVs as well. I can't even begin to describe the agitation of pulling into a truck stop and seeing people parking their motorhome in the truck lot. It's doubly infuriating at the Pilot in Stanfield, OR, where there is an RV campground literally right next door.

It is refreshing to see at least one town making an effort to accommodate trucks, especially in light of events like the city council of North Bend, WA passing an ordinance banning any new truck parking in the city--meaning the planned expansion of the lot at the TA there is now kaput.

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

rofl-3.gif They sure did! That was exactly what I was saying places should be doing. Just supply some nice, easy parking and we'll come spend our money. I mean, we've gotta eat, we need groceries, and who knows what else. Present us with some options and we'll buy stuff.

According to the article any non commercial vehicle parking there will be ticketed, that would include rvs.

Profound quote from the article:

The main reason for wanting truckers apparently is that when truckers come to town, they spend money! According to Stock, 84% of the town’s sales tax revenue comes from just eight businesses – all of which are frequented by truckers
.

If only we could get this point across to the myriad of other municipalities and towns that consider truckers the dregs of the earth and nothing more than a nuisance. On more than one occasion I've had to remind a rude and disrespectful Walmart employee unloading me, that at any moment I could emerge on the other side of the swinging doors, as a paying customer.
