Wakes me up 5 hours into my break for proposed load I couldn't do cause of 70 clock. I tell him I'm going back to sleep.

D: sleep well. I'm jealous don't get off til 0700

Me: don't be. I wanted a jacuzzi suite tonight but knew as soon as I checked in I'd get an emergency load that needed immediate pick up

D: that would be a fun message to send to sales. "Driver unable to load. She's is detained by jacuzzi"

Hahha I'd love to see the look on sales face after that lol

rofl-2.gif That would be funny! Sorry dispatch, I can't take that load - I'm neck deep in a bubble bath right now and it's going to be a while till I can get loose. Try me again in the morning.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Wakes you up how? Phone or QC?

All things being equal - a DM can see your clock. If you're running hard, and you're logged SB - kinda rude to wake you up in the middle of a break.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Rick, they don't understand "rude." It's been my experience that if you are nearby the load they need handled they will call you to talk about it. I think they purposely avoid the Qualcomm in a situation like that because they may not get a resoonse.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

So I guess the solution would be to put your phone on DO NOT DISTURB when you climb into the sleeper?

I guess the rude comment of mine - was kinda "tongue in cheek". DM's (especially the night crew) probably care little whether or not the driver is sleeping.

Exactly, I put my phone on silent when I'm sleeping. Mostly I do that because Daniel B has a terrible habit of calling me when I'm sleeping. My sleep schedule is totally unpredictable, but Daniel is always on the wrong side of it for some reason.

He QC d me and is a great nice guy. I do t mind him doing it cause I know if he is... that sales dept is the one pushing him. Plus he knows I drive nights so I was probably one of the drivers who would get hours back the earliest. He is the same guy who messaged and called me all night the other day when they assigned me a load with no hours on my 70 (wasn't him who assigned it but he was the one on thw hook with sales).

I usually put do not disturb except dispatch.

I mute the QC, don't need it telling me that "pre-assignment has been updated" all night. I leave my phone on but have only been called once in the middle of the night. I had entered the wrong trailer number when I picked up a load, and I dropped it for someone else so they had the wrong number. At first I was kind of upset that they woke me up, then I thought that it *was* my fault and if I were trying to find my pickup I'd want them to call the other driver.

I always did too but one night a dispatcher I really liked had an issue where a truck broke down and I was the only one in the area. Cause I already had 8 in sleeper I had some hours and he wanted me to repower that load.

My first week this guy helped me SO much I couldn't turn him down
