I'm still around!!
Good news first. We are back to Teddy!! He's all fixed up and looking handsome as ever. I almost cried when I saw the invoices. $7000 to fix everything!! Whew, glad I didn't have to pay for that!!
We are on a run up to NY. It's beautiful weather here which is nice because my APU is being a pain in the rear. It takes awhile to start and then won't stay running. Luckily it's been nice enough to sleep with the windows open. I need to get to ThermoKing to have it looked at, but I'm going to wait until I'm done with this run because I'm nearly 18 hours early and I don't want to kill that waiting at TK.
I've been quiet lately because we have had some major stuff going on. Lots of things happening all at once and it's a tad bit exhausting.
We will be going home on the 6th so expect a big update. I have a good deal of news to share with you guys but I want to wait until I have time to write the whole story out in detail.
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
Glad to hear you are well.
I think everybody was wondering where she went! Lol
Cool! I'll be looking forward to it!

Hey Chickie, What's up girl? Are you just running so hard that you have no opportunity to post or has something very devious and nefarious happened to you?!?!?!? Because, if need be. I'll put on my Bourne personna and come to the rescue!!! I truly look forward to your's and Rainy D's posts to keep me light-hearted and positive through this process of getting re-certified and back out on the road. Not to sound discriminatory, but I look at gender and age discrimination as fairly equal obstacles to overcome in many ways, so it makes me feel really good to hear your success stories and puts me staunchly on your side when you are dealing with inexcusable B.S.!!
I always look first for any posts from Chickie Monster and Rainy D to get my day started off the right way!! You girls just make my day when you post, no matter what it is. I get mad with you and I get glad with you!! I love it. One of my favorite quotes that I try to relate my difficulties to when they happen is, "You'll get glad in the same panties you got mad in!" Which just means that hard times are fleeting (unless you do really stupid s$#t to prolong it) and they disappear as quickly as they appeared in the first place. If you handle it intelligently!
Let's hear from you both, I miss you!!!!!

Wow.. I'm touched. Ok.. funny to help ur day.
I spent last night at a very quiet customer and went deep to sleep.dreamt all of my tires auto inflated until they burst. I messaged RA "due to global warming... all of my tires spontaneously combusted. Do you think we can get Green Peace to pay the bill?". Guess what I did at midnight as soon as I woke?.... whacked those tires hahaha

That's hilarious!!
When my alarm went off this morning, I was so disoriented I didn't even know where I was. I was laying there wondering why the heck it was so noisy!!
Then I finally figured out that my reefer was running and my alarm was yelling at me to get up.
At this point I realized that if I left when I originally planned, I would hit Cleveland right at morning rush hour. And if you've been there you know I-90 runs right through downtown! So I reset my alarm a couple of hours...
I'm parked at the first stop on this load now. But I can't get a door until 5 am. But they have a bathroom and I have dinner in the crockpot so I'm just gonna stay put and watch some tv and chill out with the hubby!

You tease.
To Rainey and Chickie:
I am touched that you are touched!! I always look primarily for your posts as they are usually so very entertaining and you two seem to be able to forego the stupid worries of "should I really admit this and get some truly helpful advice, or should I keep quiet and try to stumble through in ignorance?" I am the same as you. I really don't stress over whether someone will think that I'm stupid, I would much rather get a good answer and know how to approach the problem in a much better way the next time.

So I'm old and make myself look stupid while entertaining people????
LOL
people find me funny even when I don't mean to be. My book about the post office came off so sarcastic that a British blogger called it a "roller coaster of hilarity". I need to write a funny one about trucking soon. Lol
Life is too short to take seriously. The cdl process and training is MUCH worse than the actual job. Get through the stress of testing and learning. I had different trainers who all ran differently. Take what you like and run your truck YOUR way.
Yesterday I had issues with my QC. My FM called me to tell me the reboot process it didn't work. He stayed on the phone. While it was shut down I was like "I'm really close to violating.. and I haven't done that yet... I make a lot of rookie mistakes that u don't know about but that isn't one of them. The first month I expected a phone call from you everyday to tell me what I screwed up."
He laughed.
"I dont like this not working. I'm a control freak. That is why I love you. You leave me alone and are there when I need u. That weekend guy drIves me nuts asking for constant updates...why am I stopped.. where and when am I stopping today. I wanted to tell him just leave me the hell alone. How am I supposed to drive and type? Who are u dude... and get the hell off my QC".
Omg.. he busted out laughing.. I was serious though.
