Fueling At Truck Stops

I was wondering if anyone could answer what is probably a stupid question. Why do truckers, after they get fuel at a truck stop, pull up a little bit to clear the pump, and then walk inside? Every one does this. Is it not as simple as paying for fuel at the pump and leaving? I'm just curious. I'm not a trucker but dad is, I noticed this before and was just wondering.

I need a company receipt go to bathroom and grab a drink or snack. It would take longer to park to do all this then leave again.

Ahh, I suppose that makes since. I didn't think about receipts and things of that sort.

Yeah, even if they don't need a receipt, they're just buying stuff or using the bathroom. If they didn't have room to pull forward people would do it while parked at the pumps and it would take a lot longer to get fuel.

Haha, I've usually been sitting in that truck for six hours or more. I've trained my bladder to hold up under extreme situations, but there are physical limitations that require it to be emptied!

The reason we pull up is to be courteous to the next driver behind us. That way they can be filling their tanks while I'm emptying mine. smile.gif

I guess it takes more than five minutes to top the truck off. And probably more than that to empty OS after six hours.
