I thought I was going to Millis for the training, but 2 weeks ago I lost my father to a stroke (almost 3 months to the day I lost my brother in a car wreck) I informed Millis that I wasn't ready and needed to delay things (I told them about my dad) She told me I can reschedule but would cost me $200 more dollars in upfront fees.I even offered to send a copy of his obituary Ive kept in contact with Swift,I told them and they changed my status to declined in the driver pulse app so they're out (I didn't decline anything so I'm assuming they changed their minds for whatever reason) I've done new applications

XPO logistics-I've been approved already KLLM-I just did the application today 8-13 Online transport/frontier transport-same ass KLLM

What do the pros think of these companies? I'd be looking to start probably in the middle of September as I need time to deal with things

Thank you in advance

Im guessing, Swift can/will change your application status and they probably just did that until you got affairs sorted. I know my company does that too on the driver pulse app if someone is going to be delayed.

You still have all your choices available, Millis might have already paid $ for a bus ticket or whatever, hence the extra fee?

They're all good companies to get your schooliing through.

With Millis I had to pay $100 upfront (which I did) and would have to pay $400 total when I got there, this was a special deal $100 off of upfront fees towards the schooling (they take the rest out of my check) The deal ends 8/23 which is why I need the extra money

All the companies have something I like and something I don't which is why I'm having a tough time deciding

Id like smaller classes so I can get more behind the wheel practice time

I am driving for XPO, in training right now, and I'm happy with my choice. If you have your permit, they won't ask you for a cent in up front fees. They also make sure you eat while you're in school. They also don't take anything out of your check to repay for school, nor do they pay you less than someone who paid for their school. In other words, you do your year, which you should any way, school is free.

Thank you for that info very helpful I'm not a spring chicken anymore so I need to find a company that I can stay with and get a retirement (in about 20+ years) So the company I decide on has to be the one 2 questions

Who was your recruiter? How many people in your class?

I do have my permit and physical

Do you have particular reasons to sign with a company that charges you 5 Benjamins for school? Many companies offer Paid CDL Training Programs.

As for the decline status, like Sue said, that may be so the company can keep its records straight, as in "no reason to bug you for now." And remember, if you ask later, the worst that could happen is they say "No."

CDL:

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Choosing school daunting, A new employer even more so. There are so many excellent schools, both company owned and private. My choice was made FOR ME, as my school was paid by an employer scholarship program. When I was signing up for another full time private school and requesting a personal leave of absence to attend there (and trying to figure out how I was going to cover some bills while in school), my employer announced they had arranged special weekend only classes through another school which would be held at my place of employment, I retracted my choice of school and leave request so I could work full time while I attended school.

I wish I'd stuck to my guns on attending my first choice and not taken what "looked like" a good short term solution to my dilemma at that time. I'm not going to rehash through my school experience, but if you check out my posts on Lake Cumberland CDL , anyone will understand my hesitancy regarding part time programs. I will say I was SUPPOSED to be done in late October of 2015 but didn't actually finish until mid January of 2016. Yikes was I disappointed at that... angry too.

My recruiters name was Amanda Wilmoth. The school I was sent to had 8-12 students while I was there.

I chose that one at first because it had the very small class sizes
