Well guys after talking to my co driver he feels he's ready to spread his wings and fly. It gives me a great feeling of accomplishment knowing another safe driver will be on his way to a good career.

We had a great time. We were able to take a little time in San Francisco and see the bridge. Go to downtown Portland Oregon. Just so he knew it's just not all work.

He decided to go company after talking with me and his parents. Even though he kind of had his heart on leasing. I told him to learn company first because your young enough that you'll have plenty of time to make a change if you want to. In turn though it's his choice.

Man I'll tell you it's like you child going off to his first day of school. Is my job done! Never! Till he ends his career he's always my student and anytime he needs advice I'm a telephone call away. So off to Springfield to meet my next victim and get another career off to a good start.

Lol, awesome. It's great to hear, in the myriad of horror stories you hear about trainers, that there is one that actually cares about the well being of their trainee.

Good luck

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.
  • Get 75 hours of behind-the-wheel time with one-on-one student/instructor ratio.
  • Earn 10,000 miles toward total 40,000 miles needed.

Scott I am still in New York State and do not have a preplan back to Springfield. Please don't wait on me for an interview because it still could be a week or more before I actually get to the yard. There are some great trainers there just make sure you are comfortable from the get go. If I get back sooner I'll call

Can't get there soon enough Brian! But I guess I'll have to trust in the luck of the draw. Been good to me so far. Should be heading to Prime in mid September. Maybe SLC will talk with recruiter and see what's best. Good luck with your next High Road trainee!
