Not sure exactly what "the basics" is. Perhaps if you were more specific on what you are having trouble with, we could help you figure it out.

Ditto what Sue wrote...give us a bit more.
Oh trust me, you'll be working on the basics your whole career. We all do. You'll be working on backing, shifting, and maneuvering in tight spaces forever. There is no such thing as becoming so good you can't get better.
And listen, don't let anything discourage you. If you make a mistake, learn from it and move on. If someone says you need work, then put in more work. But if trucking is your thing then go out there and make it happen and enjoy every minute of it. Face every challenge head on and take every setback as an opportunity to get better. You have to have a thick skin and a lot of determination in this business. There isn't going to be anyone there most of the time to pat you on the back and tell you you're doing a good job or help pick you up if your spirits are down. So you have to be fiercely independent and enjoy what you're doing as much as possible.
Like Sue said, if you can tell us some specifics you're looking to get better at we'll give you some pointers. But keep your confidence level high and enjoy yourself. Don't let anything get you down.
Just as you think you have it they pull you back again! Believe me Brett is right, all throughout your career your basic skills sometimes need a little brushing up. Don't take it as a negative comment. Work with it. There are days out here that nothing seems to go right and others that just seem to fit like a glove. It's funny how I can make the most complicated back look easy and turn around to go to a truck stop with 5 empty spots side by side and not hit the hole. It all happens and you get better with age.
