I've been with Roehl since April, and went through their RDTC. It's a great school. You guys will love the training you get there. I think Roehl is a fantastic starter company. I'm on the van national fleet and making pretty solid money. Good luck!

Hi Scott, I'm going for Reefer National Fleet myself I'm very anxious to learning all they can teach me and then using that knowledge to be a productive member of the fleet.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Dave I sure hope I didn't steal your seat. That would suck. Kim didn't say why she just asked if I could be there Monday. I sure hope your there Monday morning. Be great to have 1/3 the class from here. Dave I'm going to the 3 week cdl course in Marshfield. I'm thinking you already have your CDL and are going to phase 1 orientation. Those are done on site.

Scott that's great news. After all my extensive research I felt they fit me the best. I am going in National van at first, but will move to the hometime plus fleet as soon as they will allow. I spoke with the orientation supervisor in Atlanta and he told me it would depend on my performance how long it would take. They asked me about going into flatbed, but I just thought it would be better to get the basics down before adding more to the equation. I couldn't believe how fast they moved start to finish.

Now Dave and I have a known place to get answers if we need to. Thanks

  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.

They have a great training program from what I've read from other drivers. Especially the fact you can be in your own truck by week 5. That was a big bonus to hear that from a company.

Yeah their program is a bit shorter. But they were very quick to tell me it is performance based and flexiable. The basic cdl school is 3 weeks in Marshfield. Last 3 days is the same as phase 1 orientation at the terminal for hires that already have their cdl. After that I'll get a few days off then report to the terminal for phase 2. In my case it will be Atlanta. I know they have 5 current trainers. Phase 2 is intended to be about 13 days. They are looking for about 3000 miles with the trainer. Then they evaluate to see if they want more time or they sign off and put you on your own. This seems shorter than some other companies but they believe it works well for them.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Well ya'll it's official now. I'm on the road to school. 1100 miles from home, but I took a detour adding an additional 500 miles so I could visit with my big sis in Hot Springs Ar. She had a CDL for years and drove just about everything with 10 wheels or more. I'll spend the night here, mostly cause she's an awesome cook and continue in the morning to Marshfield.dancing-dog.gif
