IdleAir is great. Saves your batteries, and provides cable and internet.
Incidentally, our company has plans to have that at the new terminal theyre building in Cedar Rapids because there is never enough bobtail outlet parking spots available at our current main terminal.
Sorry to go off topic, but Sue I can't help but notice how much you love your company. Considering all options on entering industry (go OTR or take advantage of SYSCO providing me the training and being local driver immediately). With WestSide, do they have their own school or At least offer reimbursement? Plan on moving back to the Midwest in the next year or so.
"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

I saw one in Tennessee. It was like $80 for 24 hours (Idle Air). It includes cable and 120v power. It can be AC or heat. Neat idea, but IDK if I would pay for it. I guess if you were doing a 34 hr reset. The parking spots were in between reserved and general parking. So fairly close to the Truck stop.
APU:
Auxiliary Power Unit
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
