Dollar General Sucks!

But not for the reason you may think :)

Had a delivery today. My GPS kept showing me a Dollar General but the delivery was NOT to a DG. I called and they said they share the DB building. Oh, wunderbar.

So I get the lay of the land with the GPS and head out. I get to the DG and of course the lot is packed. The person I called at the customer site said their receiving is at the back of the building. No problem.

So I squeeze through to the back and guess what I find? A DB truck already there! So now do i find myself in a lot already full of parked cars but I can't even back in to the "receiving area" because a DB truck is there!

Long story short, I pull forward to the end of the lot and the customer backs his pickup to the end of my trailer. We shove his freight into the bed and he's happy :)

Then he and a coworker spot me while I blindside back NEXT TO the DG tractor-trailer. Basically a three-point turn at that point to get out.

Never, ever will I consider doing a DG run. And I gave the guy there unloading to DG mad props for even getting in there with a 53 as opposed to my 45.

Sorry. Just substitute DG for DB wherever you see :)

Yeah Ive heard those accounts are nasty for a driver without tons of experience. We do many Lowes stores, which can be fun navigating through the lot to the back docks, at least there is more room than a DG and at least 3 docks with a circular turn around area so even the smallest stores are tight but doable even for a rookie. As soon as I'm in the lot, my 4 ways are on and I won't drive above 5mph lol. Ya never know what those crazy customers will do in those lots.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
