I84 W is closed at exit 265 and the Flying J is already way past capacity. I snuck over here to Walmart and amazingly there are only about 8 or so trucks in the parking lot. I was the third. LOL

Boise, wondering if it's going to snow tonight and I'll wake up in an ice rink...

It's worse than that (it's dead, Jim!). WB 84 is closed to commercial vehicles in Ontario, because there's nowhere left to park a truck in either La Grande or Baker City.

ODOT needs to get their ish together. Leaving Baker City this morning headed east, they had the chain law up to the 328 yard stick...for bare roads. Get to the head of Burnt River Canyon, and it's a solid sheet of ice all the way to the top of Three Mile Hill...and no chain law. And in the 2 hours and 14 minutes it took me to get to Ontario, I saw two, count em, TWO salt shakers out. This wasn't in the wee small hours, either. I left at 0700.

And just to add to the fun, the next big storm is set to roll in tomorrow night.

Is it April yet?

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Well they are saying it's open on the cb. I'm not going anywhere until after around midnight or so. I probably won't even leave until 0300 or so. It sounds like you guys were right behind me.

I must have a guardian angel. I left West Valley this morning around 0250. I stopped briefly in Snowville and it was a balmy 7 degrees. LOL But no snow. I stopped in Twin Falls to use the restroom. I was actually planning to take a quick 30 to 45 minute nap because I was a bit sleepy and my original plan was to.stop in Ontario but decided to go ahead and push through to La Grande after the nap.

In the 15 minutes or so that I was in the crapper it started to snow. I was like "well, no nap for you". LOL

It was so cold nothing was sticking and the snow was more like sand blowing back and forth across the road. The right lane would be pretty much clear from all the traffic and the snow would accumulate in the left lane until somebody passed you or you passed somebody else. Then nobody behind them could see Jack Stuff. LOL

That went on until Boise and then the sun came out and everything started to melt. It was basically running water, gravel and or slush until I got here to La Grande. My truck is a fuggin mess and I couldn't really even see out of my passenger side mirrors for the last 20 miles or so. I would have stopped but I was only going to have about 20 to 25 minutes on my 14 when I got here anyway. As it turned out the traffic getting off the freeway caused me to barley make it to Flying J, there was absolutely no parking to be had so I was 5 minutes over when I got here to Walmart. LOL

Fun Stuff! JJ
