I shut down last night in Oklahoma city due to icing, and again today when I noticed 1/4 inch of ice on my mirrors. Felt bad about it until I went inside and found a guy who took 3 hours driving through there. Now, looking at the forecast, I might be here a bit. Looks like another short week for me.

Def better to be late with freight than pitched in a ditch!

Sitting here in TN near Nashville right now debating getting on the road... 25 mph with 30+ mph gusts, carrying 24k frozen floor to ceiling distribution. Sitting at TS watching tree next to me be rocked around and feeling my trailer taking pretty stiff hits. Beginning to feel a bit wuss-ish watching others come and go, but as usual I am overly cautious. Not sure how much is too much wind with what I have in the back.

Kat, my FM says "if you don't feel safe, don't drive." Seems to be absolutely company policy. A good one imho!

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
