Oh Man, I just thought I was "Old School." I am gonna have to get me one of those "trucker hats" like that dude in the commercial is wearing - then I would really feel "Old School."
But would you look this cool in one of those hats?
I'm impressed that the ad had a girl enjoying the trucks, too. Rosie the Riveter's influence was still strong, apparently.

1956 Post "Grape-Nuts Flakes" Toy Tractor Trailer Commercial
In 1956, Post’s “Grape-Nuts” lesser-known cousin, “Grape-Nuts Flakes”, started offering plastic toy tractor trailers in every box. Neither of these cereals actually contained “grapes”, or even “nuts”, but it was the 50’s, so we expected a little propaganda with our breakfast.
They came in 5 different styles, and four different colors, meaning that you’d have to plow through at least 20 boxes of the famously mis-named cereal in order to collect them all.
Pay attention to the descriptions that they used for the styles of truck offered.
During the Great Cereal Prize Heyday of the 70’s and 80’s, every sugary cereal known to man would entice children to bug their parents for the cereal with super-cool toys in every box.
Alas, the days of ultra-sugary cereals and digging through them for prizes are mostly behind us, and while we can’t really know how Post’s truck giveaway worked out for them, it’s hard to picture children begging to eat Grape-Nuts, no matter what the prize.
