Good choice Patrick. I started the process with Prime last year and then my recruiter kinda fell off the face of the earth. Work got busy and lost touch with the company. This go around I sent out apps to all the majors I could and Roehl just happened to click with me. They paid for physical, given the option though I would probably go with Prime. If only they had contacted me. Im happy with things the way they are going now though. Good luck.

they want me to get my dot physical first and that can be upwards of 300 i hear.

I got mine through a Swift approved Urgent Care Center in Tucson, AZ. I think it was between $90.00- $110.00.

Currently im looking at prime george, heard amazing things about them. I looked at roehl but according to the site they want me to get my dot physical first and that can be upwards of 300 i hear.

Tractor i dont have a doctor lol no insurance at the moment. Plan to change that once i can get my foot in the door for truckin.

Roehl pays for your DOT physical. They paid for my original physical and they paid for my two renewals. I think prt of why they pay is because they like to control the process through their medical service. I don't mean that in a bad way. Get this...I always considered myself somewhat healthy...I had lost 15-20 lbs leading up to my initial DOT physical. My blood pressure ..I can't recall what the actual numbers were...but the doctor said they usually call an ambulance at these levels. So I am on medication to control it. As Tractor Man said...silent killer. Don't mess with it. Good luck.

Good luck with this bud. Rest, water, and relaxation will help a ton. It sure helped me, though I still plan a follow up with my primary when I get home.

Patrick, as Brett mentioned there are some things mentioned on the site to help with BP. Nancy had some good advise too but I would add more time to that based on a talk from a Dr. I just listened too about blood pressure and cholesterol. Not that the two are related just that he spoke about both. His greatest recommendation is to relax and do deep breathing for 15 minutes. He said that will be good for the whole day and reduce your blood pressure as much as two medications.

I know we aren't going to change the view of the medical field in America over night or DOT but this same Doc. pointed out the irony of BP numbers as Germany has at least 85 different treatments to help increase (yes increase) blood pressure as they believe it is essential to supporting good health. 140 over whatever is on the low side for them.

The thing he keeps pointing out is that our blood pressures fluctuate all day long based on the need of the body at any given moment. It is a self regulating thing. An athlete or weight lifter after doing a heavy workout can have a BP of 400 over 200-300 and even though that is what his body needs at that moment.

Finally he suggests, besides the deep breathing exercise, to drink more water, stop eating foods cooked with oils, especially polyunsaturated ones, and eat more raw foods and stop eating man made and processed foods. He believes that it is these oils that cause the blood to stick and clump in our arteries and it is not cholesterol which is a whole other story. Basically if it is a yellow oil in a plastic bottle on the supermarket shelf leave it there or burn it in your bio diesel engine, that's about all it's good for. That last one was mine.

Right on. And darn, I cant find it right now, but the 2nd leading cause of death is doctors. Ahead of cigarette smoking. I'll find it and get back to you. But like Steward was saying, find the cause of your hbp and correct it. The doctor will just give you a pill, he will not correct it. The pill will have side affects and you'll end up taking pills for that. Just my opinion, I'm not a doctor.
