Here I was thinking I had a squeaky clean record and would have no problems, but I just remembered I did have a driving record from when I first started driving over 20 years ago. In the state of Indiana I had a pretty high speeding ticket. It wasn't called reckless driving but I know it could have been because the officer told me if he wanted to he could have taken me to jail. Thank God I had laid the respect thing on real thick from the get go. I was 19 then and I am 41 now. Then when I was between 21-23, somewhere in there, I got my license suspended for failure to show proof of insurance when I got another ticket. That speeding ticket was just a low one though.

Recently I did have two non-moving violations: Improper display of license plate and driving on expired license plates. I have never had any DUIs or any type of criminal record. I did get cited for two alleged hunting violations in a neighboring county, but both charges were thrown out of court for lack of evidence (I was guilty of neither and it was quite obvious the two park rangers were colluding to frame me.)

Is this going to be a problem for either Prime or Roehl? That was my two companies I was hoping for so far. If so, how about industry wide?

I'm close to your age and when I was in my early twenties I had a terrible driving record. Much worse than you describe. I finally grew up a little and have a clean driving record since then. I've worked for 4 different trucking companies and Prime being one of them. I think you will be just fine.

Prime only asked me for moving violations for three years.

So doubt it a problem. And they only asked for convections...so again no problem :)

Same answer as above. You shouldn't have a problem. Prime was only concerned with my last 3 yrs driving record. And the hunting issues are miniscule. They'll hardly be a concern.

OK GREAT!!! I did send for my HireRight record mainly because I forgot the dates of two work from home temp. jobs I had with Kelly services in the last eight years or so. If that doesn't show them up I will have to go down to the Social Security office. I am not concerned with them saying I didn't do well there, because I did, I just have no idea of the dates I worked. Like I said on another thread, I haven't had a real job since 2001 when I left the workforce to care for elderly relatives. Will companies be interested in my work record prior to then since that's so long ago? I only had three jobs before that and two of the places are out of business. In the first one that went out, no one would be alive from there, as they hired almost all elderly men who had left the trades (they were a small family owned chain of hardware stores). Even the owners are dead. I was there the longest of any job I ever had which was six years, and considering I was only 17 when I started and how flighty people usually are at that age I am quite proud of that. The other place that shut down was a restaurant and bar that went out after I left and I was only there a short time because the job wasn't for me, so I don't have any contact information for anyone since I didn't know anyone there well enough to have their home number or address. The other job was as a driver-exterminator for Terminex. I was there for about a year and a half. I am a little concerned about that one. Even though I was laid off and not fired, I had a high absentee rate from there due to some medical issues I was having at the time, no doubt from the pesticides. I seriously doubt there would be anyone left there alive who would remember me. My supervisor was in his early seventies then and the plant manager his mid-fifties so I am sure he retired, as you're talking eighteen years ago.

Just remember in the state of California it is illegal to shoot game from a moving vehicle; except whales.

They won't care about jobs before five years ago.

Only if you were driving with CDL

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OK that's a load off. I have another question, but that deserves its own thread since someone might ask it in the future.

Didn't a question like that come up on the HM/TWIC application though?

Been awhile for mine - can't remember if it was on there.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
