Matt...the point about "beginning" totally buy into that.
Fear...once past the critical first few months should give way to a consistent heightened awareness and never forgetting the power and size of what we are driving. Skill, knowledge, common sense, preparation, communication, proper rest, and situational awareness keep us alive.
If fear was my predominant feeling, day in and day out I wouldn't drive.
When I heard this I was riding in a tractor trailer during a heavy snow storm to a place we could stop and another driver flew past us got on the radio and asked if we were scared. So I agree that is more of a way to put it. The heightened awareness isn't necessarily fear its respect?
My response to that question on the radio would have been, "We're not scared, but neither are we stupid!"
Lol I'm sure that would have worked to. I guess when I was younger I took it as its ok to be hesitant about doing things you shouldn't because you are staying safe doing it at least thats how I have always processed it
My response to that question on the radio would have been, "We're not scared, but neither are we stupid!"

Fear keeps us alive driver. Two things I heard in my life that I will never forget pertaining to this industry.
