Hi, I'm looking to get into the industry. I'm facing a possible misde charge for shooting a gun in city limits. I won't go into to many details however it was a accident. The gun went off in my hand and put a 9mm round through my palm. Besides this possible charge I'm facing. I have never been in trouble in my life. I have great work history and am pretty fit. I also don't have a bad driving record at all. I am thinking of applying for Prime. What are my chances with a fresh misdemeanor over something stupid like this?

Just call the recruiter and ask them, i do believe with a charge pending it might be a no-no. They are pretty strict when it come to stuff like that

Well I know that I spoke with my lawyer though he's pretty sure it's going to be the misdemeanor. just trying to prepare for when that happens.

I was in the process of buying it I didn't think it was hot. Generally they aren't when you're buying them lol. Guy didn't mention it....very depressing day. I'm trying to move on though.

Wait til the outcome Then ask if there is a minimum amount of time to apply before they will consider you. Prime takes gun charges very seriously. Long story...my schizophrenic sister signed a complaint I chased her with a gun. I never owned nor touched a gun,.charges were dismissed when she attacked me in court....prime still freaked out...five years after my sis was dead. It was family court and prime still freaked out.

That's discouraging however thanks for the honesty.

When you say you did not know it was hot. Do you mean stolen or loaded and ready to fire?

It could have been they thought i lied. I was never arrested or read my rights etc. But the very blue NJ put it in as an arrest. Prime asked for convictions over the last five years....so technically I wasn't lying either. The whole issue never even crossed my mind cause of years of restraining orders I had against her. In the end the police were calling me weekly to check on me cause of her threats.

My sis died 1/1/11....that whole incident took place 1/08 and I got to prime 9/15. So they were asking me about something 7 years prior. And I have nothing else on me...not even a parking ticket....and was a federal employee for 18 years. (I also happened to prove I was at work when I supposedly chased her....much different from actually being involved in something).

I do know people ago drive for prime with arrests...so realize most carriers will probably go case by case. Just be up front and answer the exact question they ask.
