So, several years back I was actually accepted by Prime for their cdl school. Then life just kinda happened and I was unable to attend. I had a no fault accident around that time also.

Flash forward to the present, I'm now able to go to school. It seems like the companies I've applied with don't want to touch me for an accident almost three years ago, no incidences since. I'd really enjoy a change in my life right now.

I'm just looking for reccomendations. What companies would be willing to take a chance on me?

CDL:

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hello, Spacers icon, welcome to Trucking Truth!

Sounds like you're still at Step 1 for the CDL. Use the High Road program for your studies, for sure.

You don't describe your accident, was it a fender bender or worse than that? Driving issues (your accident) are almost a car by case study with companies - policies vary. You can apply "everywhere" with the Apply For Truck Driving Jobs app. That takes care of getting the application to the right place - "right place" being the company that calls you back!

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

I was behind another car in the early morning coming downhill approaching a bend in the road. Another vehicle coming the opposite way took the turn too fast and hit a utility pole. The car in front of me stopped just in time to avoid the pole.

For me it was a choice of hitting another car, possibly injuring somebody or taking my vehicle off the road. So I made the choice hopefully all of us would make, off the road I went, down goes a farmer's fence. No injuries. I could have driven the vehicle away but insurance decided to total it because of its age.

The police treated the scene as two separate accidents. I was never cited for anything. No insurance judgement either.
