Hey, I am new to the trucking field and not sure what to expect. I have read a lot of different things, some good and some bad. In my case I had to change my career due to a stupid decision I made in 2014. I now have felonies on my record. I have always wanted to drive the country, so here I am. It has been a very rough struggle finding any company willing to work with me. I have a few that are looking at me now but SRT called and said I am all good to go. I explained everything in detail to them and even told the recruiter to make sure background is acceptable. She did just that and I waited a week to call her. I talked with another recruiter because mine was not there, She told me that everything was a go and all I have to do is start orientation. I am doing just that here in the next week or so. Can anyone give me a heads up on what I am getting into? Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the forum JM...you have come to the right place. The link Big Scott referred you to is a really good primer into realistic expectations with this job and life style. Highly recommended. Big Scott just passed his CDL tests, not a bad idea to check out his and other training diaries in the TT Diaries Forum.

Here is a link relevant to any review or thread on Southern Refrigerated Transport

This link is also a good one to review: Truck Driver's Career Guide

And finally Trucking Truth's in-house training, The High Road Training Program. This will take most of the guess work out of passing the permit exams. Even if you already have your permit, you will still find this helpful and useful.

Lots of reading. Happy to assist. Good luck to you!
