I am surprised this topic hasn't been started up on here yet but I was wanting to know, what areas do you feel the safest driving in and what areas will make you want to "run for the hills" as they say?

My safest areas: 1. Southeastern US anytime with the exception of South Florida. 2. Midwest area except 50 miles in any direction from Chicago, IL. 3. Central part of the country: South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas (except the Dallas and Houston metro areas) 4. Desert part of So Cali, Arizona (Except on I-17), & New Mexico. 5. Anywhere really in the Western part of the country east of Winnemucca, NV

My Scariest Areas:

1. ANYWHERE within a 100mi radius of NYC. 2. ANYWHERE within a 100mi radius of Los Angeles. 3. ANYWHERE within a 50mi radius of Chicago. 4. ANYWHERE South and East of Sebring, FL and Melbourne FL. 5. Most ANYWHERE in California.

Since I was in trucking the first time and became homeless, this list has been updated. What you see above is as of today based upon my personal experiences. What are some of your areas that you feel safe in or where you want to get the heck out of asap?

South and East of Sebring or Melbourne? THERE'S NOTHING THERE! How much better could it be for a trucker? Flat, good weather, few towns.

Now if you want to specify West Palm or Miami, then I can understand.

Auggie69, I did mean Palm Beach (West Palm), Broward (Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood) and Miami-Dade (Miami/Florida City) county areas because they drive crazy down there plus the crime rates are astronomically high there also. That general area, also Ft. Pierce and Southward. Vero is pretty nuts also. Basically look at a map of Florida. Find Melbourne and then Sebring. Draw a line from Melbourne until the line is right above Sebring. Then draw a line from that point intersecting the first line you drew right through Sebring to the southern tip of Florida. That Southeastern area in that box is where the crime rates are way too high and where people drive the craziest. That is the area where I was referring to if that helps to explain it a little better.

Hated: I-35 in Texas (anywhere) I-95 corridor

*Chicago doesn't bother me, since I grew up there.

I live in Nashville TN and that is the one city I absolutely despise driving through. I am not sure what it is about it but I cannot stand it. Any chance I get I take the huge 840 bypass around it and completely avoid it.

I don't mind driving anywhere on a U.S. Interstate. I really like the sights on I-80 once you hit the desert.

I despise those state routes that take you through backwoods small towns, mostly because the speed limit goes 60...55...45...35....45...55...60. (Sprinkled w/ stoplights).

Wash, rinse & repeat.

I've delivered to some villages in Pennsylvania tucked into moutainsides that shouldn't have 2 lane car traffic, much less trucks w/ 53" trailers. 😑

The entire state of Indiana outside of Indianapolis. Terrible roads. Road work every where and where there isn't road work, the road is falling apart.

Indianapolis is a joy to drive through though.

Also dislike driving through Kansas City and Cleveland.

I ALWAYS take the BYPASS around ALL MAJOR CITIES. Trucks especially are not meant for the downtown areas of major metropolitan areas. That is why most industrial complexes are on the OUTSKIRTS of major cities. The I65/I24 interchange in Downtown Nashville is a NIGHTMARE in MAJOR traffic.
